Our Story

Torrey Castle is something real, it is the name of a shallow ledge found in one of Maine's most beautiful stretches of water. It is a buoy that also serves as one of the first marks of a unique regatta held annually along the famed Eggemoggin Reach. Here, we have found a community that reflects our core values—where competition is taken seriously, yet racing is treated, regardless of outcome, as an endeavor to be enjoyed. Success is most importantly an opportunity to demonstrate character, celebrated in the company of others, especially with rivals. It is this sportsmanship and integrity that define our brand.

The Founders

Dennis Gunderson

Dennis Gunderson

Dennis began sailing professionally in 2009 on a classic racing yacht in New England. He continued sailing full-time around the world for another five years before being hired as program manager for a fleet of private yachts. This led Dennis to lead multiple racing campaigns around the world in different racing classes including Superyachts, 12-Meters and Classic Yachts. In 2021, Dennis managed the construction of an AC75 Americas Cup yacht for the Stars and Stripes campaign.

Todd Woodworth

Todd Woodworth

Todd sailed professionally full-time in the winter of 2015-2016 and continued racing at a high-level including several summers racing with Dennis. Today Todd and Dennis sail together on a 12-Meter.

The Shoe

When we started this company, the goal was simple: build a sailing shoe that looks great and performs better. Something that meets the standards of serious sailors and athletes, without losing sight of style. We've always felt that traditional design is timeless, yet we also believe in modern materials and technology to gain an edge. This shoe is the result of that combination—shaped by years of design, testing, and refinement.

We've pioneered a first-to-market performance sole using a Supercritical EVA midsole for durability and comfort, and proven TPU outsole for superior traction and abrasion resistance. This innovative sole is matched with a traditional-looking, hydrophobic, canvas upper with sailing inspired design elements. Together, these features offer unparalleled comfort, performance, durability, and distinctive styling.
